Pentagon Locks Anthropic Out, Signs Classified-AI Deals With Seven Rivals Instead
The Department of Defense awarded contracts on Friday to OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, AWS, Nvidia, SpaceX and Reflection to deploy AI inside its classified networks, pointedly excluding Anthropic. The freeze stems from Anthropic's refusal to grant unrestricted access for autonomous weapons and domestic surveillance, and reinforces a Hegseth directive that bars contractors from doing any commercial business with the firm.
