Anthropic and the Gates Foundation Pledge $200m to Aim Claude at Polio, Preeclampsia and Smallholder Farms

Anthropic announced a four-year partnership on 14 May that commits $200m in grants, Claude credits and technical support to global health, life sciences, education and economic mobility work. The largest slice funds vaccine and therapy research aimed at neglected diseases including polio, HPV and preeclampsia, while the rest backs K-12 tutoring tools, foundational literacy apps in sub-Saharan Africa and India, and crop-science improvements for two billion smallholder farmers. The deal also funds public-good datasets and benchmarks, including better training data for African languages where current models perform poorly.

Anthropic Publishes a 2028 Roadmap That Tells Washington How to Keep Its AI Lead Over Beijing

A new paper from Anthropic, posted on 14 May, sets out two scenarios for the US-China AI race three years out: one in which democracies hold a clear lead on intelligence, adoption and distribution, and one in which Chinese labs close the gap by exploiting export-control loopholes and distilling American frontier models. The company is pushing policymakers to tighten compute controls on PRC labs, block model-distillation attacks and accelerate AI deployment across allied governments. It is the most policy-forward research Anthropic has published since the Mythos cyber preview.

PwC Will Train 30,000 Staff on Claude as the Two Firms Open a Joint Centre of Excellence

PwC and Anthropic expanded their alliance on 14 May, with the consultancy rolling out Claude Code and Claude Cowork first to US teams and then to its global workforce of hundreds of thousands of professionals. The pair will stand up a joint Center of Excellence, train and certify 30,000 PwC employees on Claude, and build agentic AI products for client engineering, dealmaking and operating-model work. PwC cited insurance underwriting cycles cut from ten weeks to ten days and incident response shortened from hours to minutes as evidence the work pays off.

The Register Calls the New Claude Agent Credits What They Are: Agents Back on the API Meter

The Register's read of Anthropic's 15 June change argues the new monthly Claude Agent SDK pool is less a perk and more a quiet return to API-style billing for anything that runs Claude headlessly, whether through the Agent SDK, GitHub Actions or third-party frameworks like OpenClaw. Pro, Max and Team users get $20, $100 or $200 a month in non-rollover credits priced at standard API rates, after which usage flips to pay-as-you-go through the Claude Developer Platform. The piece notes the timing maps to Codex's recent pricing pressure on heavy programmatic users.

I'm moving and found a fun little use for Claude Cowork: Hand it a floorplan and ask it create a 3D planner. The attached demo (not my real place) was a one-shot. I also had it find all the email receipts for furniture I got over the last few years and put in matching models.

Felix Rieseberg Shows Off a One-Shot 3D Floorplan Built by Claude Cowork During an Actual House Move

Anthropic engineer Felix Rieseberg posted a demo on 13 May of Claude Cowork turning a floorplan image into a navigable 3D planner, then matching every piece of furniture in the model to receipts pulled from years of his email. The clip is one of the cleanest community demonstrations to date of Cowork's connector model, where Claude can stitch together calendars, mailboxes and visual inputs in a single agent run. It comes as Anthropic positions Cowork as the entry point for small business and creative workflows.
